Aryna Sabalenka, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Jessica Pegula are among the players named in the U.S. Open's initial 2026 field announcement.
The announcement establishes entry, not a seed, draw position or guarantee that every listed player will compete. Injuries, withdrawals and eligibility changes can alter a Grand Slam field before play begins.
Sabalenka and Pegula headline the names highlighted from the women's field, while Alcaraz and Sinner lead the men's names in the tournament's July 21 announcement.
The event is scheduled at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. The broader tournament calendar runs from Aug. 23 through Sept. 13.
Men's and women's singles qualifying is scheduled Aug. 24-27. USTA says 128 men and 128 women will compete for 16 final main-draw places in each singles field.
Main-draw singles play begins Sunday, Aug. 30, with first-round sessions on Aug. 30 and 31 and Sept. 1. The women's singles final is scheduled Sept. 12 and the men's final Sept. 13.
Entry lists and qualifying fields answer different questions. A player named in the direct-entry announcement is not competing for one of the 16 qualifying places unless later circumstances change the route into the draw.
Seeds and brackets will be set closer to competition using the tournament's rules and current rankings. The July announcement should not be read as a projected semifinal or final lineup.
