Support Boho News
Support reporting, not access
Boho News is building an independent public-interest newsroom capable of publishing quickly and investigating deeply.
That requires money.
Records cost money. Travel costs money. Photography, data, hosting, insurance, security, legal review, subscriptions, equipment, and skilled labor cost money. Pretending journalism can be produced indefinitely through unpaid sacrifice is not a funding model. It is a method for ensuring that only wealthy institutions can sustain reporting.
Financial support helps us build the capacity to do harder work.
It does not buy influence.
What support funds
Support may be used for:
- fair compensation for reporting, editing, engineering, research, photography, design, administration, and operations;
- public-record requests and litigation;
- reporting travel;
- data and document acquisition;
- source subscriptions and reference services;
- photography, audio, video, maps, and graphics;
- legal, security, and safety support;
- accessibility work;
- hosting, storage, and publishing infrastructure;
- insurance and professional services;
- long-term reserves and institutional stability.
What support does not buy
A contribution does not purchase:
- favorable coverage;
- negative coverage of someone else;
- access to unpublished reporting;
- the identity of a confidential source;
- advance control over a story;
- protection from scrutiny;
- a correction unsupported by evidence;
- editorial, hiring, or personnel authority.
We may decline or return support that creates a serious conflict, concealed influence, legal risk, or mission conflict.
Current financial-support status

We will publish a secure tip channel only after it is properly configured and tested.
Donor privacy
We do not sell donor information.
We do not publicly identify a supporter without permission unless disclosure is legally required or necessary to explain a material conflict involving our coverage.
