How scoring works
A clean clear earns a difficulty base plus a bounded speed bonus. Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert have progressively larger bases and par times. Hitting a mine or restarting the same layout locks that attempt’s score at zero; ordinary undo and flagging are free.
Your first reveal is safe. Every standard board can be solved without guessing.
Loading the puzzle engine…If this stays visible, Boho News could not start the local puzzle engine. Keep your browser security settings on and try one refresh.
Mouse: left-click to reveal or chord, right-click to flag. Keyboard: arrow keys move, Enter reveals or chords, and Space flags. Touch: choose Reveal or Flag, then tap. Winning requires every safe square—not every mine—to be revealed.
This implementation uses the MIT-licensed Mines engine from Simon Tatham’s Portable Puzzle Collection. Generation, play, timing, and saved progress stay in this browser. Optional anonymous sharing sends only the difficulty, outcome, and a coarse points band.
